BEIJING — Here are the latest developments on the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in China:
— The National Health Commission said on April 9 it received reports of 63 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland on April 8, of which 61 were imported. Two new domestic cases were reported in Guangdong province.
A total of 91 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals on April 8 on the Chinese mainland.
— No new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported on April 8 in Central China's Hubei province, the provincial health commission said on April 9. Two deaths were reported in Hubei on April 8.
— Experts and officials from the city of Yiyang in Central China's Hunan province shared their COVID-19 treatment experience via a video conference with the Brazilian city Guarulhos on April 8.
— Chinese authorities have demanded targeted approaches to resuming business and living order while containing the coronavirus outbreak.
In low-risk areas, venues essential for work and living should be opened in a gradual and orderly manner. Enclosed entertainment and leisure venues should be opened in a prudent way, said a circular issued by the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council.
In medium- and high-risk areas, venues essential for work and living should be opened with restrictions to some extent, while enclosed entertainment and leisure venues are advised to be closed for the moment, the circular read.
