BEIJING — Here are the latest developments on the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in China:
— A total of 46 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported on the Chinese mainland on April 14, of which 36 were imported.
Ten new domestically transmitted cases were reported, eight of which were seen in Heilongjiang province and two in Guangdong province, according to the National Health Commission (NHC).
— A total of 78 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals on April 14 on the Chinese mainland.
Altogether 77,816 patients had been discharged from hospitals after recovery by the end of April 14.
As of April 14, a total of 82,295 confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported on the mainland, and 3,342 people had died of the disease, according to the NHC.
— No new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported in Central China's Hubei province on April 14.
The provincial health commission said the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Hubei remained at 67,803, including 50,008 in the provincial capital of Wuhan, the hardest-hit city in China, by April 14.
— Wuhan Leishenshan (Thunder God Mountain) Hospital, which was built in 10 days to treat COVID-19 patients, ceased operation in Wuhan on April 15 as the coronavirus epidemic wanes.
— Wuhan launched an epidemiological sampling survey on local residents on April 14 to learn the occurrence of asymptomatic cases.
The survey will cover a total of 11,000 residents from 13 administrative districts in Wuhan. To ensure the authenticity and accuracy of the data, the sampling survey adopts the principle of random sampling at fixed points. One hundred residential communities will be selected as the survey points.
