China renews blue alert for severe convection weather
BEIJING — China's meteorological authority issued another blue alert for severe convection weather in parts of the country on May 5.
From May 5 to May 6, thunderstorm and hail will strike in parts of the provinces of Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian and its offshore areas, Jilin, as well as Chongqing municipality, according to the National Meteorological Center (NMC).
Heavy rainfall, with hourly precipitation ranging from 30 to 50 millimeters, is expected to hit parts of the provinces of Sichuan, Guizhou, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian as well as Chongqing municipality, said the NMC.
The center advised the public to take precautions such as reducing outdoor activities and avoiding billboards and sheds.
In the country's four-tier weather warning system, red is the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
